EIP-AGRI Workshop 'Farm data for better farm performance'

Event description and objectives

Digital technologies and data-based solutions can help farmers work more precisely, efficiently, and sustainably, improving decision-making and farming practices, and helping increase farm’s environmental performance and competitiveness, whilst also making farming jobs more attractive to younger generations. Collaborative data sharing models play a key role in ensuring that data driven strategies add value to the agri-food chain. On the other hand, data sharing also raises challenges for farmers such as privacy concerns, data protection and ownership.

The overall aims of this workshop are:

  • Take stock of on-going successful projects and initiatives that collect and make use of farm generated data to improve economic and environmental performance.
  • Explore the role of the different stakeholders on economic and environmental data collection at farms and their use for agricultural production.
  • Provide an environment to exchange best practices on economic and environmental farm data collection, use and sharing.

Within the workshop, among others, the following main questions might be discussed:

  • Which type of economic and environmental data is being generated on your farm?
  • Are you using the service of third parties for the analysis and interpretation of the data generated on your farm?
  • What is the value of agricultural data?
  • How important do you deem information about extreme weather events?

The event will include a brokerage activity where participants will present projects and ideas and meet other people sharing the same interests.

This call for interest is targeted only at certain types of participants. These are: farmers, young farmers, advisors, partners in Operational Groups and technology developers who may be involved in relevant projects or have experience in designing and/or implementing innovative digital technological and farm data-based solutions contributing to increase farm’s environmental performance and competitiveness in the agricultural sector across Europe.

The event has limited number of participants. The organisers will assess all applications received and will confirm the attendance of those who will be selected. As a rule, only one participant per project/organisation will be accepted. However, the participation of farmers is strongly encouraged, and a second application per organisation/project can be exceptionally accepted if at least one of the two applicants is a farmer.

The deadline for this call for expression of interest is 29 October 2021 at 23:59 CET. If you have any further questions, please contact workshop@eip-agri.eu
