Policy on data processing and protection in the context of the Flemish Rural Network

Below you will find the policy on data processing and protection within the framework of Flemish Rural Network.

Who processes your personal data?

Your personal data are processed by the:

Flemish Region/Flemish Community

Flemish Rural Network

Avenue du Roi Albert II 35, bus 40

1030 Brussels

vlaamsruraalnetwerk@lv.vlaanderen.be

This is the controller for the processing of your personal data described and explained in this document. The basic principle is that Flanders Rural Network only processes personal data and has them processed insofar as this fits within the tasks assigned to it. Moreover, this is always done in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG), if necessary supplemented by federal and Flemish regulations on the protection in the processing of personal data.

For information and general questions about the way Flanders Rural Network processes your personal data, you can always contact the Data Protection Officer (DPO) of Flanders Rural Network: gegevensbescherming@lv.vlaanderen.be.

There you can also always contact us with comments and suggestions and to exercise the rights granted to you by the regulations (see below).

What do we use your personal data collected as part of the Flemish Rural Network for?

Policy support Flemish rural development policy:

We also process your data for reporting on the situation of Flemish agriculture and horticulture, for policy-supporting studies and for scientific research. In those reports, studies and research we include only anonymous data.

The policy-supporting task of the Flemish Rural Network is a task of general interest included in the following regulations:

  • framework decree on administrative policy of July 18, 2003, article 4;
  • Decision of the Flemish Government of June 3, 2005 regarding the organization of the Flemish administration, article 30.

We do not use your data for tax or audit purposes.

What data do we process about you?

The data we process about you is personal data. This means that these data allow us to identify you or, still, to establish a link with you as a natural person.

Which data we process depends on the specific services we offer and provide.

Generally, it is identification data (so that we know who you are) and all kinds of data that are important to carry out our assignments.

The data that we require for each service or order are also, in principle, described in more detail in the relevant regulations.

From what sources do we obtain your personal data?

We obtain the personal data we need in two ways.

First, we request data directly from you through a form or survey you complete, or through direct contacts (such as site visits, electronic correspondence, telephone contacts).

Other data we consult and request from third parties who already have it.

When data about you is requested from third parties, the principles on protection in the processing of personal data also apply. These principles are always respected, but depending on whether the Flemish or federal government is competent, this is done in the manner in which these principles are further specified at the federal or Flemish level.

To whom do we pass on your personal data?

Your data will be passed on to Flanders Rural Network.

In addition, your data are mainly processed internally by employees of the Flemish Rural Network.

If data about you are passed on to third parties, the principles on protection in the processing of personal data also apply. Those principles are always respected, but depending on whether the Flemish or federal government is competent, this is done in the manner in which those principles are further specified at the federal or Flemish level.

It is possible, for example, that we use third parties for certain services who then act as so-called processors. In that case it is possible that your data will also be sent to these processors. But this is only to allow them to provide us with the service in question and always under the control of Flanders Rural Network.

Sometimes we are also obliged to pass on data about you. This is particularly the case when we are required to do so by law or decree or when the judicial authorities, police forces or government agencies have the right to request data from us.

It may also be the case that another public authority is authorized to request data about you from us.

What are your rights regarding your personal data?

Where the processing is based on the public interest, you can oppose the use of your data by Flemish Rural Network at any time. However, you should be aware that if, due to your opposition, the Flemish Rural Network is not allowed or able to process your data, it will not be possible to provide you with the service or benefit you claim.

In addition, you can always review the data we process about you and, if necessary, have it corrected. You can easily request this at gegevensbescherming@lv.vlaanderen.be, with proof of your identity. We require this proof in order to prevent your data from being disclosed to someone who is not entitled to it and thus for your protection.

If you do not agree with the way Flemish Rural Network processes your data, or if you feel that your data is no longer relevant for the processing and therefore should be deleted, you can take several actions. You can speak to the data protection officer (FG) about this.In English, this is the data protection officer (DPO).
